The snow monkeys of Japan

Almost three years ago, I experienced something incredible. From Tokyo, I took a train, a bus, and then walked the snowy trail of Jigokudani Park to meet snow monkeys.

The name of Jigokudani Park means “Hell’s Valley” because of its steep cliffs and the steam coming from its hot springs. But for the snow monkeys enjoying a bath there, it’s quite the opposite.

I have finally published a story and photos recalling the experience. You can read it here in The Australia Times.

You can also see my photos of Kyoto here.
